About The Host Dude
What this site is
The Host Dude is a small, independent guide to buying web hosting without the headache. We cover one host, Hostinger, and we cover it properly: the real prices, what you pay upfront, what it costs when it renews, and which plan fits which kind of site.
Most hosting roundups list ten hosts and rank them by whoever pays the most. We don’t do that. We picked one host that is genuinely cheap for beginners in the USA, UK, and Canada, and we wrote the guides we wished existed when we bought our first plan: short, honest, and full of the numbers that actually decide whether a deal is good.
How we write about prices
A hosting price is almost never the price on the tin. The $1.99 a month you see in a Black Friday banner is the total for a 48-month term divided by 48, paid upfront, for the first term only. When that term ends, the same plan renews at $10.99 a month. Both numbers matter, so both numbers are on every page here. We also show the total over four years for each term, because a 12-month plan that looks cheap can cost four times as much over four years once renewals kick in.
Prices change during sales, sometimes mid-sale. The Black Friday price on this site was $2.49 a month for Premium on 22 October 2026 and $1.99 a month by 6 November 2026, with no code needed. That is why every page tells you to check the price at checkout. If the checkout price and this site disagree, the checkout is right.
How this site makes money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy hosting through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That does not change what we recommend: the calculator shows the same prices whether you click our link or go to Hostinger directly, and the picker recommends Premium for most beginners even though Unlimited pays us more. If a plan is a bad fit for you, we say so.
What we don’t do
We don’t pretend to have tested hosts we haven’t used, and we don’t publish speed-test numbers from someone else’s lab as if they were ours. We don’t collect payments, passwords, or personal details on this site. And we don’t write about hosts we can’t stand behind: if an affiliate program rejects us, we stop promoting that host, full stop.
Who runs this site
This site is run by an independent WordPress builder who has built and run WordPress sites for years, in the USA, the UK, and Canada. No author name, photo, or biography is published here yet. When a real author page is ready, it will go here, with real details, not a stock photo and a made-up backstory.
