Start a WordPress Website in 10 Minutes With Hostinger
You can have a real website today, not next week
Most people put off starting a website because it sounds technical. It is not, not anymore. If you can sign up for an email account and pick a password, you can do this. The whole job breaks down into a few small clicks, and the longest part is deciding on a name. Everything else is guided. You do not need to touch code. You do not need to hire anyone. You just need a plan, a domain idea, and about ten minutes of unhurried time.
Here is the honest version up front. The setup itself really does take around ten minutes. Going live for everyone in the world can take longer, and that delay has nothing to do with how fast you clicked. When you point a domain at your new hosting, the internet needs time to learn the new address. That is called DNS, and it can take up to 24 hours. Your site will still exist. You will still be able to log in and build it. It just might not show up for your friends straight away. That is normal, and it fixes itself.
What you need before you start
Start with a domain idea. This is the address people type to find you, like yourname.com or yourbusiness.com. Have two or three options ready, because your first choice might already be taken. Shorter is easier to remember, and it is easier to say out loud too. Avoid hyphens if you can. They are easy to forget and awkward to explain. A .com is still the safest bet for a US, UK or Canadian audience, because that is what most people type without thinking.
You will also need an email address you actually check. Hostinger sends your login details and receipts there, and WordPress uses it for password resets. Use a real inbox, not a throwaway address you will lose. Then have a payment method ready. A card works fine. That is the whole list. No business licence, no design skills, no second computer. If you have those three things, you are ready to buy.
Pick Premium or Unlimited in one paragraph
Here is the short version. Premium costs $1.99 a month on the Black Friday deal, which works out at $95.52 upfront for 48 months, and it renews at $10.99 a month. It covers 3 websites, 20 GB of SSD storage, weekly backups, a free domain for the first year on terms of 12 months or longer, free SSL, and a 30 day money back guarantee. Unlimited costs $2.79 a month, or $133.92 upfront for 48 months, and it renews at $16.99 a month. It covers unlimited websites on a fair use basis, 50 GB of NVMe storage, daily backups, priority support, a free domain and SSL, and the same 30 day money back guarantee. If you are building one site, or two, or three, Premium is enough. If you already know you will run more sites, or you want daily backups and faster help when something breaks, Unlimited is the one to pick. Prices are first term only, so check the price at checkout, because it can vary by country. You may see Premium listed at $2.49 a month in some places for the same sale. The checkout price is the one that counts, so trust that number, not a listing elsewhere.
Step 1: Buy your plan (about 2 minutes)
Go to Hostinger through this link: see the current Hostinger deal. Pick Premium or Unlimited. Then choose your term. The Black Friday prices above are for 48 months, paid upfront. That is the cheapest way to lock the rate in. Shorter terms cost more per month, so do the maths before you pick a 12 month term just because the upfront number looks smaller.
Create your account with your email address and a strong password. Fill in the payment details and finish the checkout. You will get a confirmation email within a minute or two. Keep it. It has your order details and a link back to your account. Nothing here is hard. It is a normal online checkout, the same shape as buying anything else online.
Step 2: Claim your free domain (about 2 minutes)
Once you are inside your Hostinger account, you will see an option to claim a free domain. This is included for the first year when you buy a term of 12 months or longer. Type in your first choice and search. If it is free, claim it. If it is taken, try your second idea. Do not spend half an hour agonising over this. A good enough name today beats a perfect name you never buy.
If you already own a domain somewhere else, you do not have to move it. You can keep it where it is and point it at Hostinger instead. That takes a couple of extra steps in your domain settings, and the change can take up to 24 hours to spread across the internet. Your site will still be built and ready in the meantime. You can even build it on a temporary address first, then switch the domain over when you are ready.
Step 3: Install WordPress in one click (under 1 minute)
This is the part people expect to be hard. It is the easiest step of all. Hostinger uses its own dashboard, called hPanel. It is not cPanel, and you do not need to know what cPanel is. Log in to hPanel and go to Websites, then Create website, then WordPress. Pick your domain from the list. Enter an admin email and a password you will remember, because this is the login for your WordPress dashboard, not your Hostinger account. Then hit Install.
The install itself takes under a minute once it starts. Seriously. You will see a progress screen, and then a success message. That is WordPress, installed, with a database and all the plumbing already set up for you. Ten years ago this job meant downloading files and creating databases by hand. Now it is one form and one button.
Step 4: Open WP Admin and look around (about 2 minutes)
In hPanel, find your website and click the WP Admin button. That takes you straight into your WordPress dashboard without typing a separate login. Take two minutes to look at the menu on the left. Posts is where blog articles live. Pages is where your main pages live, like Home, About and Contact. Appearance is where themes and menus live. Plugins is where extra features live. Settings is where your site name and reading options live.
Your site already has a sample post and a sample page on it. Delete them. They are placeholders, and they look messy if a visitor finds them before you do. Then go to Settings, then General, and check your site title and tagline. A tagline is one short line that says what the site is for. Keep it plain. “Plumbing tips for homeowners in Texas” tells a visitor more in six words than a clever slogan ever will.
Step 5: Pick a theme (about 2 minutes)
Go to Appearance, then Themes, then Add New. You will see hundreds of free themes. Pick one that looks close to what you want. Do not judge it by its demo photos. Judge it by its layout. Does it have a clear menu? Does the text look readable? Does it look tidy on a phone? You can change the colours and the header image later. The structure is what matters.
Install it, activate it, and then look at your site. It will already look like a website. That is a good moment. Most first time owners expect a blank page at this point, and instead they get something that looks finished. Now go to Appearance, then Customise, and change the colours to something you like. Keep it simple. One main colour and one accent colour is plenty. Three or four colours fighting each other makes a site look cheap.
Step 6: Publish your first page (about 1 minute)
Go to Pages, then Add New. Title it “Home” or “Welcome” or whatever fits. Write two or three short paragraphs about what the site is and who it is for. Add a heading. Then hit Publish. That is it. You now have a live page on the internet, or at least a page that will be live as soon as DNS catches up.
Then make an About page the same way. Say who you are, what you do, and why someone should trust you. A photo helps, even a phone photo. People buy from people, and an About page with a real face on it does more work than a perfect logo. Add both pages to your menu under Appearance, then Menus, so visitors can actually find them.
Step 7: Turn on SSL (a few seconds)
SSL is the padlock in the browser address bar. It encrypts the connection between your site and your visitors, and browsers now warn people about sites that do not have it. Hostinger includes free SSL with both plans. In hPanel, go to your website, then Security, then SSL, and make sure the certificate is active. It is usually set up automatically, but check it. Then visit your site with https at the start of the address. If you see the padlock, you are done.
If the padlock does not show, do not panic. It can take a little while for the certificate to activate, especially on a brand new domain. Wait an hour and check again. If it is still missing after that, Hostinger support can sort it out in a few minutes. This is a common first day question, and it is a quick fix.
What to do if your site does not show up yet
This is the part that worries new owners most, so let us be clear about it. If you type your domain into a browser and see an error, or an old page, or a “site cannot be reached” message, it usually means DNS is still updating. DNS is the system that turns your domain name into the address of your hosting. It can take up to 24 hours to update everywhere. Some people will see your site in an hour. Others might wait most of a day. Both are normal.
While you wait, keep building. Log in through hPanel and the WP Admin button, not through your domain name, and everything works. Write your pages. Add your photos. Set up your menu. By the time DNS finishes, your site will be ready instead of empty. And if it has been more than 24 hours and nothing shows, check that you pointed the domain at the right nameservers, or ask Hostinger support to check it for you. They do this all day.
Your first week, in short
Day one is setup, and you have just done it. Day two, write your About and Contact pages properly. Day three, write your first real post or service page, something that answers a question your visitors actually ask. Then tell a friend and ask them to visit the site on their phone. Watch what they tap first. If they cannot find your contact details in ten seconds, move them somewhere more obvious. A website is never really finished, but it does not need to be perfect to be useful. It needs to load, to say clearly what it is, and to let people contact you. You have all three now.
Ready to start? Get Hostinger at the Black Friday price and follow the steps above. The sale runs from 19 October to 14 December 2026. Prices are first term only, so check the price at checkout, because it can vary by country.
How long does it really take to start a WordPress website with Hostinger?
The setup takes about 10 minutes: buying the plan, claiming the domain, installing WordPress, picking a theme and publishing your first page. Going live for all visitors can take up to 24 hours while DNS updates, but you can build the site in the meantime.
Do I need coding skills to use WordPress on Hostinger?
No. Hostinger installs WordPress for you with a one click installer in hPanel, and you manage the site through the WordPress dashboard with menus and buttons. You can run a full site without writing a line of code.
Which Hostinger plan should a beginner choose?
Premium is enough for most beginners because it covers 3 websites, 20 GB of SSD storage and weekly backups. Choose Unlimited if you plan to run more than 3 sites or you want daily backups, 50 GB of NVMe storage and priority support.
Is the free domain really free?
The domain is free for the first year when you buy a plan for 12 months or longer. After the first year you pay the normal renewal price for the domain, so check that price before you commit to a name you love.
What is hPanel and how is it different from cPanel?
hPanel is Hostinger’s own hosting dashboard. It does the same job as cPanel, managing your websites, domains, email and security, but with a simpler layout. You install WordPress from Websites, then Create website, then WordPress.
What should I do if my domain still does not work after 24 hours?
Check that the domain is pointed at Hostinger’s nameservers and that SSL is active in hPanel. If both look right and the site still does not load, contact Hostinger support and ask them to check the DNS settings for you.
